TL;DR
Operations Manager (Public Transportation): Running onsite transit operations, coordinating fleet and driver supply, and improving safe, reliable service for riders with an accent on fixed-route transit, coach bus operations, and CDL driver management. Focus on making real-time operational decisions, resolving breakdowns and scheduling issues, and maintaining DOT/FMCSA safety and compliance standards.

Location: Montgomery area; fully in-person, onsite 4–5 days per week

Salary: $65,000–$90,000 per year

What you will do

  • Run daily onsite operations to deliver safe, reliable, and accessible transportation services.
  • Make real-time decisions about fleet operations, driver supply, compliance, rider needs, and unexpected service issues.
  • Guide and support professional drivers, address concerns, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Use rider and community feedback to identify patterns and implement operational improvements.
  • Analyze service performance with data and technology, diagnose problems, and improve efficiency and rider experience.
  • Coordinate between city partners, drivers, and central teams to support community transportation goals.

Requirements

  • Experience in operations, people management, logistics, customer service, or process-oriented work.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
  • Deep understanding of fixed-route transit, including time-point adherence, breakdown escalations, and run scheduling.
  • Comfort working around Class A and Class B vehicles, including 35–45-foot coach buses and their safety, maintenance, and maneuvering requirements.
  • Experience managing and retaining professional CDL drivers while maintaining safety, compliance, and morale in a high-pressure scheduled environment.
  • Ability to commute to the Montgomery area and work onsite 4–5 days per week.
