Safety Supervisor

What you will do

• Lead safety operations, meetings, toolbox talks, yard walkthroughs, hazard identification, and corrective-action tracking.
• Manage incidents and accidents on site, including root-cause investigations, scene documentation, insurance claims, and regulatory reporting.
• Administer DOT random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing programs, including violations and return-to-duty coordination.
• Maintain driver and attendant credentials, Driver Qualification files, training records, proficiency evaluations, and corrective-training logs.
• Oversee driver training programs, including onboarding, behind-the-wheel training, route qualification, refresher training, and the Non-CDL-to-school-bus-driver certification pathway.
• Track safety metrics, identify trends, and report findings to the Location Manager.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional safety-management experience in transportation, preferably school bus or passenger transportation.
• In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations, state pupil transportation laws, and OSHA/DOT standards.
• Commercial Driver's License required.
• Working knowledge of FMCSA 49 CFR Parts 382, 391, and 395, state Department of Education school bus standards, and applicable CDL/Non-CDL requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex data and findings clearly.

Nice to have

• Supervisory experience training and managing a driver workforce.
• Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
• CSP, CDPT, SBDI, or another relevant safety certification.
• Experience with vehicle camera and monitoring systems.
