What you will do

  • Own and formalize the company-wide manufacturing safety program, policies, procedures, and stop-work authority framework.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, serving as the primary contact for inspections and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead hazard analyses and risk assessments for manufacturing processes, including machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout, lifting limits, lasers, chemicals, high-energy systems, and future explosive ordnance integration.
  • Develop safety protocols for firearms handling, weapons integration, explosive materials, field testing, emergency preparedness, fire protection, and incident response.
  • Implement safety training, maintain compliance records, and oversee machine-specific, forklift, laser, respiratory protection, and specialized training.
  • Analyze safety metrics, near-misses, and observations to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a safety professional in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and experience developing safety programs in high-risk environments.
  • Experience with hazard analyses, risk assessments, field-testing operations, and MIL-STD-882 or similar system safety frameworks.
  • Experience with explosives or ordnance safety, firearms safety, and high-power laser safety standards including ANSI Z136.1 or MIL-HDBK-828.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification or equivalent, plus experience in defense, aerospace, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite and spend significant time on the production floor.
