Senior Turbomachinery Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Design turbomachinery components for high-performance liquid rocket engines.
• Perform one-dimensional sizing and detailed flowpath design for liquid inducers, stators, impellers, and hot-gas turbine rotors and stators.
• Design secondary fluid flowpaths for bearings, seals, and coolant paths.
• Perform detailed structural, fluids, modal, and rotordynamic analyses of turbomachinery components.
• Collaborate with design, build, and test teams to deliver manufacturable, reliable, low-cost hardware and successful turbopump testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
• 5+ years of relevant turbomachinery experience.
• Knowledge of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, materials, turbomachinery design, and analysis practices.
• Experience with fluids and structural analysis software and CAD hardware design.
• Knowledge of turbopump assembly, including rotor balancing, interference fits, and clearance checks.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain a U.S. export license under ITAR and EAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• Strong compressible and incompressible flow modeling experience.
• Experience manufacturing and testing stationary and rotating turbomachinery components.
• Experience with turbopump bearings, seals, assembly processes, bladed CFD, and rotordynamic analysis.
