Avionics Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $115,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Design mechanical hardware for high-performance spacecraft avionics operating in demanding space environments.
• Collaborate with electrical, structures, thermal, dynamics, and integration engineers on product architectures.
• Own designs from concept and analysis through prototyping, testing, iteration, and qualification.
• Perform structural, stress, strain, thermal, and other critical performance analyses.
• Create mechanical drawings with GD&T and coordinate fabrication with internal and external manufacturing partners.
• Develop test plans, improve manufacturability and assembly, and contribute to CoDR, PDR, and CDR reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong CAD skills and experience designing metal parts for manufacturing and assembly.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerancing.
• Strong communication skills for explaining design decisions, surfacing risks, and driving cross-functional resolution.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with vibration, thermal, vacuum, motor design, optics, harness routing, RF hardware, or vacuum chamber design.
• 5+ years of experience in a relevant mechanical hardware specialization.
• Startup or fast-paced development experience.
• Experience with NX and Teamcenter.
