TL;DR

Location: Santa Clara, CA or remote within the United States. Remote employees must travel to the Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter based on business or team needs, and must work in person at headquarters during the first two weeks of onboarding.

Salary: $85,000–$175,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Design, implement, troubleshoot, scale, and monitor process control systems for a nuclear fuel recycling facility.
  • Develop control philosophies defining key variables, setpoints, and rationales for safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Prepare and review instrument loop drawings, logic drawings, cause-and-effect matrices, interlock schemes, and related control documentation.
  • Define alarm priorities, setpoints, and functional descriptions to support operator awareness and system safety.
  • Design control system architectures covering hardware, software, networks, DCS, PLC, and HMI applications.
  • Collaborate with facility design, unit process equipment, and licensing teams and prepare technical documentation for regulatory filings.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in process controls engineering or a similar field.
  • Ability to communicate technical content and results clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work creatively and independently in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment.
  • Availability to travel to and work at the Santa Clara headquarters during onboarding and periodically throughout the year is required for remote employees.

Nice to have

  • Experience with the nuclear fuel cycle or high-temperature and corrosion-resistant facilities.
  • Experience with control narratives, piping and instrumentation diagrams, interlock lists, instrument specifications, and instrument setpoints.
  • Experience designing, managing, commissioning, or operating DCS, PLC, alarm, safety, and HMI systems.
  • Experience leading or contributing as a subject matter expert in process hazard analysis studies.
  • Experience with first-of-a-kind or pilot plants and commercial or governmental nuclear industry projects.
