Mechanical R&D Engineer (GPC/SEC/LC Instruments)

What you will do

• Design and develop mechanical systems for GPC/SEC instruments, covering concepts, detailed designs, analysis, drawings, prototypes, and testing.
• Size, calculate, and select components for enclosures, structures, mechanisms, automation, thermal management, optics, EMI shielding, and fluidic systems.
• Define mechanical architectures, component placement, CAD databases, platform standards, and mechanical BOM cost estimates.
• Conduct characterization, cyclic, reliability, and other mechanical engineering tests, including the creation of test cases.
• Collaborate with project management, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, service teams, suppliers, design partners, and contract manufacturers.
• Investigate development and sustaining issues through root cause analysis and deliver compliant product lifecycle documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 4 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Experience with 3D solid modelling and drafting in CAD software; Siemens NX is preferred, with SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo also relevant.
• Knowledge of precision machining, sheet metal, casting or molding, and 3D printing.
• Strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, planning, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a cross-functional environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical design, heat transfer, thermal-fluid systems, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up evaluation.
• Knowledge of FEA, CFD, and numerical simulation tools such as ANSYS or Simcenter.
