Location: Santa Clara, California, or remote within the United States. Remote employees must travel to the Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter based on business or team needs, and work onsite there during the first two weeks of onboarding. Only applicants who meet the definition of a U.S. person under applicable export control laws may be eligible.
Salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience.

What you will do
- Develop detailed SolidWorks 3D CAD models and production-quality fabrication, assembly, weldment, machining, and installation drawings.
- Translate engineering concepts into manufacturable custom equipment, assemblies, fixtures, tooling, vessels, and furnace components.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly principles to improve manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and reliability.
- Collaborate with mechanical, process, nuclear, materials, and controls engineers, as well as machinists, welders, and fabrication vendors.
- Support prototype fabrication, assembly, equipment integration, testing, and iterative design improvements.
- Maintain bills of materials, drawing revisions, controlled CAD files, templates, and engineering design standards.
Requirements
- Associate's degree, technical certification, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience in mechanical design, mechanical engineering technology, drafting, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing detailed mechanical designs and fabrication drawings for custom industrial equipment, machinery, or prototypes.
- Advanced SolidWorks proficiency, including complex assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, and drawing creation.
- Strong knowledge of machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, GD&T, tolerancing, bills of materials, and manufacturing notes.
- Demonstrated application of DFM and DFA principles and the ability to produce accurate, complete mechanical documentation.
- U.S. person eligibility may be required due to U.S. export control restrictions.
Nice to have
- Experience with radiological or nuclear facilities, commercial or governmental nuclear projects, gloveboxes, hot cells, shielded equipment, or remote-handling systems.
- Experience designing high-temperature process equipment operating above 500 °C, molten salt systems, vacuum systems, or corrosive chemical processing equipment.
- Experience with large weldments, pressure-containing assemblies, custom process vessels, PDM/PLM systems, or rapid hardware prototyping.
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards and industrial drafting best practices.
