TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer (Robotics): Developing and releasing electronic systems for the Apollo humanoid robot from ideation through design, validation, and mass production with an accent on mixed-signal PCBAs, hardware efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Focus on architecting complex subsystems, solving EMI/EMC and signal-integrity challenges, and leading rigorous validation, debugging, and production support.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; travel up to 10% within the US and internationally.

What you will do

  • Own the development lifecycle of complex electronic components and subsystems for the Apollo humanoid robot.
  • Design, simulate, prototype, implement, and test multilayer mixed-signal PCBAs and electrical systems.
  • Create schematics, block diagrams, test plans, assembly instructions, fabrication drawings, and other design documentation.
  • Conduct power analysis, performance benchmarking, hardware validation, and regulatory testing for FCC, CE, and UL compliance.
  • Debug hardware and software issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive EMI/EMC, signal integrity, power integrity, DFM, and DFA improvements.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, thermal, systems, manufacturing, vendors, contract manufacturers, and external design services; mentor junior electrical engineers.

Requirements

  • Senior-level electrical engineering experience with products architected and shipped into mass production.
  • 4+ years of electrical engineering experience and a bachelor's, master's, PhD, or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with PCB/PCBA design, prototyping, debugging, manufacturing release, and laboratory equipment.
  • Competence with Altium or similar CAD tools and electronics simulation tools such as LTSpice or PSpice.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management systems such as Arena, plus strong hardware debugging, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • Work location is Austin, Texas, United States; travel of up to 10% is required.

Nice to have

  • Robotics experience or experience designing electronics for lightweight, space-constrained systems.
  • Experience implementing embedded systems on robots and troubleshooting hardware.
  • Knowledge of AI accelerators or quantum computing.
