Senior Database Administrator (AWS)

Location: Remote within the United States; must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable database solutions using PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar platforms.
• Plan and execute low-downtime database migrations, including on-premises to AWS RDS/Aurora, version upgrades, and cross-platform migrations.
• Lead database development, optimization, automation, infrastructure as code, and DevOps initiatives.
• Develop scripts and tools for monitoring, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, document database architectures, and mentor development teams on standards and best practices.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of progressive experience in database development, administration, or technical leadership.
• Strong expertise with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar relational database platforms.
• Hands-on experience with AWS RDS and Aurora, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and optimization.
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python; infrastructure as code experience with Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Experience with database migrations, performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, CI/CD, Git, database security, backup, and recovery.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, plus strong analytical and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Azure SQL or Google Cloud SQL.
• References or case studies demonstrating measurable impact from complex database projects, automation, or technical innovation.
