Senior Database Administrator (Oracle & AWS Cloud)

Location: Oakland, California; on-site in the East Bay 2–3 days per week, with on-site presence required on Day 1.

What you will do

• Lead installation, configuration, patching, migration, and administration of Oracle and PostgreSQL environments, with supporting SQL Server expertise.
• Manage AWS RDS, Aurora, Systems Manager, and related cloud database infrastructure.
• Automate cloud operations with CloudWatch, Lambda, IAM, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
• Diagnose complex performance issues using SQL tuning, indexing, AWR, OEM, and cloud monitoring tools.
• Design and maintain high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions using Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and multi-AZ replication.
• Provide advanced production support, participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, and mentor junior DBAs while partnering with DevOps.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of senior DBA experience across Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Expertise with RMAN, pgBackRest, and AWS Backup strategies.
• Deep experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, Systems Manager, and KMS.
• Experience with database security, encryption, auditing, vulnerability remediation, and data retention policies.
• Ability to automate with Python, Shell scripting, or PL/SQL and document root-cause analysis for stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
