Senior Backend Software Engineer - Infrastructure (Distributed Systems)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid workplace

Salary: $135,000–$200,000 per year, plus potential restricted stock units, sign-on bonus, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Build a performant search and indexing ecosystem for granularly permissioned data.
• Develop distributed systems for large-scale compute workloads, including scheduling hundreds of thousands of containers per hour.
• Design architecture, APIs, and foundational services for storage, authentication, and asset serving.
• Improve tracing and performance observability across high-scale distributed microservice architectures.
• Automate the deployment, management, and operation of Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Kafka, and other distributed systems.
• Contribute to open-source data-processing libraries and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years designing, building, and operating scalable and reliable infrastructure systems in production.
• Strong coding skills in Java, C++, Python, Rust, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with storage and data-processing systems, cloud infrastructure, and related technical tools.
• Background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or a similar field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to iterate quickly and maintain a high quality bar.
• Hybrid work in New York, NY; some roles may require working from the state of employment.

Nice to have

• Experience developing and managing highly available distributed systems.
• Active US Security clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
