TL;DR
R&D Electrical Engineer (High-Voltage Electronics): Designing precision analog, RF/DC high-voltage electronics, power supplies, and PCAs for next-generation LC/MS mass spectrometry instruments with an accent on mixed-signal PCB design, simulation, prototyping, and verification. Focus on building and testing regulated scientific instrumentation, integrating system control and diagnostics, and transferring robust designs to manufacturing.

Location: Hybrid role in Santa Clara, California, with 2 remote days and 3 onsite days per week. Possible relocation assistance is provided.

Salary: $172,512–$269,550 per year, plus bonus, stock, and benefits.

Company

hirify.global develops scientific and analytical instruments supporting life sciences, diagnostics, pharma, food safety, environmental, forensics, and advanced materials.

What you will do

  • Design precision analog printed circuit assemblies, including high-voltage RF and DC amplifiers and power supplies for LC/MS instruments.
  • Run circuit simulations, create schematics, and complete PCB layouts for new product introductions and sustaining engineering.
  • Build, bring up, and verify prototypes and complete systems using laboratory test equipment.
  • Lead design reviews and integrate electronics with system control and onboard diagnostics.
  • Execute verification testing for instrument performance and regulatory compliance through manufacturing transfer.
  • Prepare block diagrams, theory-of-operation documents, simulation results, and test reports while collaborating with multidisciplinary R&D, quality, software, manufacturing, and product-support teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience designing precision analog circuits; PhD candidates graduating in 2026 with high-voltage RF/DC research are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with analytical, scientific, medical-device, or other regulated precision instrumentation.
  • Ability to own designs from investigation through prototype build, verification, and transfer to manufacturing.
  • Experience with mixed-signal schematic capture and PCB layout using Siemens Xpedition, Mentor DX Designer, Altium, Cadence, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with LTspice or PSpice, low-level digital interfaces such as SPI, I²C, and UART, and hands-on laboratory verification.

Nice to have

  • LC/MS or comparable analytical-instrumentation experience and high-voltage clearance, creepage, and insulation design knowledge.
  • Experience with HyperLynx, Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, CST Studio Suite, or ModelSim.
  • Python, C/C++, MATLAB, or SCPI programming for test automation and analysis.
  • Experience with spectrum analyzers, VNAs, logic analyzers, DFT, DFM, and high-volume production.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work within an approximately 50-person LC/MS R&D organization.
  • Hybrid work schedule with two remote days per week.
  • Full-time schedule, day shift, and no fixed end date.
  • Eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
