Director, Private Equity Accounting (Private Markets)

Location: New York City, United States (hybrid)

Salary: $115,000–$210,000 USD per year, plus potential discretionary bonus and/or equity awards.

What you will do

• Oversee accounting and administration for multiple alternative investment funds, primarily private equity funds.
• Manage client relationships, deliverables, timelines, expectations, and new business discussions.
• Review fund governing, offering, subscription, investment management, and transaction documents to apply fund terms correctly.
• Review capital activity, investment activity, accruals, valuation adjustments, management fees, investor allocations, and capital account statements.
• Create and review capital call, distribution, investor notice, and carried-interest waterfall calculations.
• Prepare and review financial statements and disclosures, establish quality-control procedures, and manage year-end audits with clients and auditors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 15+ years of accounting experience focused on alternative investment funds, with private equity experience preferred.
• 5+ years of experience supervising at least two professional staff members.
• Experience making hiring and termination decisions and providing ongoing performance feedback.
• Hands-on leadership, staff development, project management, multitasking, and strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
