Director, Legal Affairs (SaaS)

Location: Atlanta, GA, with hybrid work strongly preferred; remote candidates must be based in the United States.

Salary: $175,000–$200,000 per year plus incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, software licensing, data processing, proof-of-concept, non-disclosure, and other commercial agreements.
• Develop legal playbooks and contract templates supporting sales and procurement.
• Advise on data privacy compliance, including CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and other applicable US and international privacy laws.
• Build and maintain data privacy and AI governance frameworks with the Legal, Product, Engineering, Security, Finance, People, and other cross-functional teams.
• Support corporate governance activities, including board materials and entity management.
• Monitor regulatory developments, create practical policies, and contribute to SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance initiatives.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant legal experience, including in-house experience at a technology or SaaS company.
• J.D. degree and active bar membership in at least one US state.
• Experience as a legal generalist advising on data privacy law and AI governance.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with the judgment to balance legal risk and business velocity.
• Ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
• Pragmatic, business-minded approach.

Nice to have

• CIPP/US or CIPP/E certification.
• Experience with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 security compliance frameworks.
• Experience building legal processes.
• Familiarity with corporate governance for private equity-backed companies.
