Senior Corporate Counsel, Data Acquisition & Licensing

Location: Hybrid - United States

Salary: $190,000–$225,000 base salary annually, plus equity, benefits, and an annual bonus or commission plan.

What you will do

• Lead the negotiation and drafting of agreements with data providers, credit bureaus, government and public-record sources, alternative-data vendors, and third-party service providers.
• Negotiate integration, reseller, and technology-partner terms for services embedded in RiskOS.
• Structure provisions covering permitted use, downstream rights, data quality, service levels, audit rights, liability, intellectual property, and data return or destruction.
• Partner with Data Acquisition, Product, Engineering, Product Counsel, Privacy, Sales, and external counsel on data rights, provenance, consent, permissible purpose, and regulatory risk.
• Develop AI-supported tracking mechanisms and agentic AI workflows for contract review, negotiation, processing, and monitoring of data-source restrictions.
• Maintain contract playbooks, templates, and negotiation guidelines; support regulatory updates, due diligence, training, and mentoring of junior legal team members.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
• At least 7 years of post-JD legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Substantial experience negotiating data licensing, data acquisition, or data-sharing agreements involving sensitive or regulated data.
• Deep familiarity with FCRA, GLBA, state consumer privacy laws, GDPR, and other domestic and international data regulations.
• Strong commercial judgment and experience allocating data rights, intellectual property, liability, and related transaction risks.
• Ability to translate complex legal terms into actionable guidance and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Sales, and executive leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience with credit bureau, alternative-data, or data broker relationships.
• Experience negotiating technology integration, reseller, or platform-partner agreements for SaaS platforms embedding or reselling third-party data or services.
• Experience handling complex or novel data-sourcing matters, M&A or strategic partnership due diligence, and cross-border data transfers.
