Instrumentation and Control Engineer (Nuclear Fuel Recycling)

Location: Santa Clara, CA or remote within the United States. Remote employees must travel to the Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter based on business or team needs, and must work onsite there during the first two weeks of onboarding. Applicants must meet the definition of a U.S. person under applicable export-control laws.

Salary: $120,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, troubleshoot, scale, and monitor instrumentation and control systems for a fuel recycling facility.
• Integrate process, controls, equipment, and facility design across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Define control-system standards, design patterns, and PLC/SCADA implementations across multiple systems.
• Develop process sensor systems, digital controllers, network topology, dashboards, human-machine interfaces, and operator workflows.
• Prepare procurement specifications, engineering calculations, and technical documentation for regulatory filings.
• Conduct system testing, simulation, and commissioning to validate architecture, functionality, and data accuracy.

Requirements

• Degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in instrumentation and controls or a similar field.
• Experience with nuclear fuel-cycle facilities or high-temperature, corrosive, or hazardous facilities and operations.
• Ability to communicate technical content and results clearly and produce well-written technical materials.
• U.S. person status may be required under U.S. export-control laws.

Nice to have

• Leadership or subject-matter expertise in process hazard analysis studies.
• Experience deploying or working on pilot plants and greenfield or brownfield industrial facilities.
