Salary: $173,000–$211,000 USD per year

What you will do
- Lead the design, specification, selection, and integration of neutron detectors, signal-conditioning electronics, and radiation monitoring systems.
- Develop and maintain safety-related and non-safety I&C architectures for reactor protection and radiation monitoring.
- Produce and review control logic, loop diagrams, instrument datasheets, architecture drawings, control narratives, and functional requirements.
- Perform system modeling, failure modes analysis, response-time calculations, safety classification, and SIL analysis.
- Lead factory and site acceptance testing, environmental and seismic qualification, calibration, surveillance, and commissioning activities.
- Support licensing, safety-basis, hazard-analysis, deterministic safety-analysis, vendor, laboratory, and regulatory activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in nuclear I&C, radiation detection, reactor protection, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with neutron detectors, signal-processing electronics, radiation monitors, and environmental monitoring instrumentation.
- Strong understanding of IEEE 603 and ANSI/ANS radiation-monitoring standards.
- Experience with safety classification, SIL analysis, FMEA, and hazard analysis.
- Ability to lead technical projects and cross-functional engineering efforts.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with HTGR, sodium-cooled, or research reactor designs.
- Experience with data acquisition systems, digital I&C platforms, PLCs, radiation transport modeling, or detector-response simulations.
- Experience with IEEE 323 environmental qualification and IEEE 344 seismic qualification.
- Prior engagement with NRC, DOE, INL, ORNL, or related regulatory and research organizations.
