Embedded HAIPE Software Engineer, Viasat Government

Location: Onsite in Carlsbad, California, United States. US citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Secret or higher security clearance are required. Travel of up to 10% may be required.

Salary: $140,500–$221,500 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $174,000–$261,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop embedded software for HAIPE in-line network encryptors, embedded cryptographic devices, and emerging cryptographic solutions.
• Design and implement embedded software in Rust and C/C++ for Linux-based environments.
• Develop and modify Linux kernel and bare-metal device drivers for ARM, RISC-V, and other embedded processors.
• Design and implement RESTConf interfaces, standalone embedded applications, and emulation environments.
• Work with system, test, hardware, and other multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Develop, test, and certify the Next Generation Encryptor high-speed encryptor for government enterprise networks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of embedded software design and implementation experience with C/C++.
• At least 2 years of Linux experience, ideally in an embedded environment.
• Experience developing HAIPE in-line network encryptors, CVE analysis, object-oriented software, Agile Scrum, and CI/CD.
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP and common network configuration.
• US citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Secret or higher security clearance.

Nice to have

• Linux kernel driver development and modification experience.
• Experience with bare-metal embedded drivers, ARM or RISC-V processors, Rust, Python, RESTConf, and emulation environments.
• Experience with IPSec, MACsec, TLS, standalone embedded applications, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
