Software Engineer (Embedded)

Location: San Diego, CA; applicants must be US persons

Salary: $140,000–$175,000 base salary annually

Voyager Technology Systems develops defense, national security, and space technologies, including software-defined radios, digital processing systems, space-rated cameras, star trackers, and laser communications.

What you will do

• Architect, design, and develop embedded software for space products and radiation-effects mitigation technologies.
• Create software requirements, functional and design specifications, and software test plans.
• Develop and maintain applications and board-support software for single-board computers.
• Design hardware-software interfaces with hardware engineers and implement device drivers.
• Test and troubleshoot software across embedded systems and communicate project status.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, or computer science engineering.
• 7+ years of software development experience focused on embedded systems.
• Experience with embedded processors or microcontrollers, embedded Linux, Linux kernel internals, VxWorks, and cross-platform development tools.
• Low-level programming experience in C or C++, including board bring-up alongside hardware engineers.
• Experience with embedded interfaces and protocols such as PCI, USB, RS-422/232, SPI, SpaceWire, Ethernet, and CAN.
• Must be a US person and eligible to obtain required export authorizations under ITAR and EAR.

Nice to have

• MATLAB programming expertise.
• Python or other scripting and test language experience.
• Texas Instruments Code Composer experience.
• CameraLink experience.
