Senior Application Engineer - Customer Experience

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; approximately 20–40% domestic and international travel, including occasional demonstrations at the Austin headquarters.

Annual compensation: $165,000–$190,000 USD plus a 20% bonus target.

What you will do

• Define demonstration objectives, success criteria, technical scope, scenarios, and architectures with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Engineering stakeholders.
• Design fallback architectures, failure-mode mitigation strategies, and simulation environments using NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, or equivalent tools.
• Develop, configure, tune, document, and integrate Apollo robot behaviors and demonstration applications.
• Build and own the Apollo demonstration workcell at the California office, including hardware configuration and staging.
• Lead rehearsals, testing, pre-flight checks, live robot operation, presenter support, technical guest engagement, and real-time issue recovery.
• Manage concurrent demonstration programs, create runbooks and SOPs, support events and customer sites, and feed outcomes and customer needs back into product development.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in a customer-facing engineering role, independently owning high-stakes demonstrations or mobile robotic deployments end to end.
• Expertise with C++, Python, ROS, and Linux development environments.
• Practical knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, motion planning, and control systems.
• Extensive experience with robotics simulation tools such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or MuJoCo.
• Demonstrated ability to manage live technical triage, failure recovery, risk mitigation, and multiple concurrent programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; ability to lift 25–45 pounds when required and travel internationally.
