TL;DR
Systems Engineer (Autonomy Robotics): Configure, validate, and deploy autonomous heavy machinery systems with an accent on sensor calibration, system debugging, and field diagnostics. Location: Remote with worldwide travel (~40-70%) including US, Australia, Africa, Europe

$140K – $142K per year plus equity

What you will do

  • Configure autonomy software, perception stacks, networking, and cloud services for heavy machinery.
  • Perform sensor calibration, alignment, and validation for localization and perception.
  • Diagnose and debug system failures across hardware and software components using logs, telemetry, and hardware inspection.
  • Design and execute on-site test plans for autonomy behaviors, safety systems, and telemetry reliability.
  • Translate field realities into actionable engineering requirements and improve tooling and deployment processes.
  • Train operators and collaborate with OEMs and dealers to enable system installation and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience with 5+ years in field engineering, systems engineering, robotics deployment, or industrial automation.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, JavaScript or equivalent for automation and tooling.
  • Experience debugging complex hardware/software systems under real-world constraints.
  • Ability to work autonomously under ambiguous, high-pressure conditions and willingness to travel internationally and domestically on short notice.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate field issues into engineering requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, heavy equipment, or industrial automation.
  • Knowledge of safety-critical systems and functional safety frameworks.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, GNSS, perception stacks, or motion control systems.
  • Experience building test automation and validation pipelines.
  • OEM or dealer network experience (e.g., Komatsu, Caterpillar, Volvo).
