Mechanical Engineer - Pipe Stress Analyst

Location: Must be based in the United States and willing to work on-site at the headquarters in Austin, Texas, or Idaho Falls, Idaho.

What you will do

• Perform pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, or similar software in compliance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3.
• Support the design, analysis, and documentation of nuclear piping systems under ASME Section III Class 1, 2, 3, A, and B requirements.
• Evaluate pipe supports, thermal expansion, and seismic and operating loads.
• Collaborate with structural, thermal, and system design engineers.
• Prepare calculation packages, analysis reports, and design documentation for regulatory and quality reviews.
• Help develop piping design standards and design review processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in pipe stress analysis and piping system design.
• Proficiency with ASME B31 codes, especially B31.1 and B31.3.
• Experience with design documentation and QA processes in regulated industries such as nuclear, oil and gas, or aerospace.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required; applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Persons compliant with 10 CFR Part 810.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience in pipe stress analysis and piping system design.
• Experience with nuclear safety-related or safety-significant piping.
• Knowledge of Code Cases N-755 and N-122.
• Familiarity with P&IDs, pipe routing models, piping isometrics, SmartPlant, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar platforms.
