TL;DR
Lead Piping Stress Engineer (Pipe Stress Analysis/Industrial Engineering): Performing pipe stress analysis, pipe support engineering, and specialty piping design for chemical and industrial projects with an accent on ASME B31.1/B31.3 compliance, pressure and thermal analysis, and engineered supports. Focus on evaluating complex piping systems, coordinating vendor and design requirements, and managing budget, schedule, and quality across multiple projects.

Location: Newark, Delaware, United States. Travel and work at client sites may be required.

What you will do

  • Perform formal and informal pipe stress analysis for pressure, thermal, weight, and vibration-related issues in accordance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3.
  • Identify piping systems requiring review or analysis and evaluate piping supports, isometrics, and specialty items before construction issuance.
  • Develop specifications, requests for quotation, and technical evaluations for spring cans, hoses, expansion joints, snubbers, and other specialty piping items.
  • Select standard and engineered pipe supports and coordinate support requirements with piping designers.
  • Prepare work-hour estimates and manage piping engineering budgets, schedules, and quality on assigned projects.
  • Lead engineers across multiple projects and collaborate in a multi-office environment.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of applicable piping engineering experience in the chemical and industrial industries.
  • Required proficiency with pipe stress analysis and finite element software; Caesar II and NozzlePro are preferred.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1.
  • Experience navigating 3D models with Navisworks and using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related tools.
  • Ability to travel to and work at client sites is required.
  • Work may involve plant environments, temperature extremes, personal protective equipment, walking through operating areas, and climbing stairs.

Nice to have

  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Professional Engineer license.
