What you will do

  • Translate P&IDs and process architecture outputs into detailed mechanical designs for piping and equipment systems.
  • Size and select pipes, valves, fittings, supports, and other components based on flow, temperature, and pressure conditions.
  • Develop piping routes and layouts that support efficient installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Perform structural, flow, stress, and flexibility analyses to validate mechanical integrity and operating performance.
  • Specify materials, wall thicknesses, and support methods while preparing engineering drawings, BOMs, and procurement specifications.
  • Collaborate with process, structural, and procurement teams, participate in design reviews and risk assessments, and provide technical support during construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial plants, chemical facilities, or similar high-hazard environments.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, structural analysis, and material selection.
  • Proficiency with ASME, ANSI, or equivalent piping design standards and familiarity with pressure vessel codes.
  • Experience with CAD tools and the ability to interpret P&IDs and process documentation.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary, with strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, or gas processing facilities.
  • Familiarity with stress and piping flexibility analysis tools such as Caesar II.
  • Knowledge of compressible flow, vacuum systems, and cryogenic piping design.
  • Large-scale facility procurement experience, including vendor engagement and long-lead components.
