Technical Support Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom; on-site five days per week

What you will do

• Provide technical support to service engineers, operations, sales teams, and customers.
• Diagnose faults in cooling, heating, refrigeration, HVAC, and temperature-control systems.
• Support equipment selection, application reviews, commissioning, start-up, servicing, and breakdown response.
• Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and uptime.
• Prepare troubleshooting guides, service bulletins, technical reports, manuals, and work instructions.
• Collaborate with engineering, service, sales, projects, and operations teams, while supporting training and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Technical experience in cooling, HVAC, refrigeration, heat pumps, temperature control, service engineering, applications engineering, or technical support.
• Ability to diagnose faults methodically and work with mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, manuals, and specifications.
• Degree, HNC/HND, NVQ, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, refrigeration, HVAC, building services, or a related discipline.
• Strong written and verbal communication, customer focus, collaboration, organisation, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Valid driving licence may be required depending on the role.

Nice to have

• Experience with rental cooling or heating equipment, chillers, boilers, air-handling equipment, or process temperature-control systems.
• Knowledge of refrigeration principles, fluid systems, electrical fault-finding, control panels, commissioning, performance testing, and technical compliance.
• Experience in industrial, commercial, or critical-environment applications.
• Relevant technical certifications or industry training.
