Legal Counsel (EU)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; Amsterdam-based role

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate technology supply, distribution, reseller, government procurement, confidentiality, and collaboration agreements.
• Support international corporate governance, compliance registrations, and subsidiary management.
• Advise on EU, UK, and Australian dual-use and defence export controls, licences, end-user documentation, sanctions screening, and cross-border compliance.
• Support public-sector procurement and regulatory matters across Europe, including defence, security, and critical-infrastructure deployments.
• Develop legal policies, templates, training materials, and internal compliance frameworks covering NATO, privacy, cybersecurity, and trade compliance.
• Manage external counsel and support disputes, employment matters, local regulatory issues, and IP protection, licensing, and enforcement.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction, such as Australia, Ireland, England and Wales, Northern Ireland, or New Zealand.
• Understanding of and experience with EU regulatory frameworks.
• 5–7+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally combining law-firm and in-house work.
• Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Ability to work independently across multiple time zones and business units.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to have

• Experience in defence, security, aerospace, technology, or other government-facing industries.
• Familiarity with international trade compliance or government contracting.
• Experience managing competing priorities in a scale-up environment.
