is a defence technology startup developing AI-guided interceptors for drones and cruise missiles, together with the software platform that powers them.
What you will do
- Build and manage the legal function across intellectual property, commercial contracts, and corporate law.
- Own the IP strategy and portfolio, including patents, trade secrets, software copyrights, know-how protection, IP due diligence, and freedom-to-operate analysis.
- Draft, review, and negotiate customer contracts, MOUs, teaming agreements, NDAs, subcontracting arrangements, licensing agreements, and EU defence grant agreements.
- Support the corporate architecture across France, the UK, the US, Ukraine, and future entities, including governance, shareholder agreements, BSPCE documentation, and cap table management.
- Manage GDPR, French corporate law, defence-sector compliance, and export-control requirements including ITAR, EAR, French AECA/CIEEMG, and dual-use regulations.
- Advise teams and senior leadership on legal risks, fundraising, policies, documentation, and external counsel management.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of legal experience combining in-house counsel work and/or private practice in a top-tier firm.
- Strong background in at least two of intellectual property law, commercial contracts, and corporate law.
- French fluency is mandatory for the primary legal and corporate jurisdiction.
- English fluency is mandatory for international agreements, partnerships, and investor documentation.
- Rigorous, detail-oriented, pragmatic, responsive, proactive, discreet, and comfortable working as a legal generalist.
Nice to have
- Experience in technology, deeptech, defence, aerospace, or dual-use sectors.
- Experience working with a startup or scale-up.
- Exposure to multi-jurisdictional legal environments involving France, the UK, or the US.
- Familiarity with French SAS governance, BSPCE, and equity documentation.
