Research Scientist: Quantum Algorithms and Error Correction Theory (Quantum Computing): Conducting theoretical research into quantum algorithms and quantum error correction, then implementing ideas with interdisciplinary software and hardware teams on trapped-ion quantum processors with an accent on quantum algorithm theory, error correction, and processor architecture. Focus on solving challenging theoretical problems, advising hardware and architecture design, and translating research into implementations for powerful quantum computers.

Location: Hybrid in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. Must be a U.S. Person; candidates must not be nationals of China or Russia unless also U.S. citizens.

Salary: $140,000–$175,000 annually

What you will do

  • Conduct theoretical research into quantum algorithms and quantum error correction.
  • Collaborate with theory, software, and hardware teams to implement research ideas on quantum computers.
  • Advise architecture and hardware teams on applications and architectures for trapped-ion quantum processors.

Requirements

  • PhD completed before the start date and at least 4 years of experience, including PhD experience.
  • U.S. Person status required, including U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, green card, asylum, or refugee status.
  • Background in theoretical physics, mathematics, or computer science with a record of solving challenging problems.
  • Strong written and oral communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Nice to have

  • PhD in a field relevant to quantum computing.
  • Research publications or a strong research record.
  • Postdoctoral research experience beyond a PhD.
  • High-performance computing experience for scientific applications.
  • Experience with quantum computing hardware.
