Applied Scientist (Quantum Error Correction)

Salary: $142,800–$193,200 annually, plus sign-on payments and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Design and evaluate quantum error correction schemes, including new codes and fault-tolerant protocols.
• Research hardware-optimized architectures for fault-tolerant computing and adapt schemes to hardware constraints.
• Drive experimental implementations and design error correction schemes for specific quantum algorithms.
• Develop simulation and modeling tools for realistic noise models and performance analysis.
• Collaborate with experimental scientists, control stack engineers, and systems engineers on quantum fault-tolerance projects.
• Lead collaborative research projects while maintaining strong engineering and scientific standards.

Requirements

• PhD in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in quantum error correction and comprehensive knowledge of quantum fault tolerance theory.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or a related language.
• Experience with written and verbal communication, presentations, and cross-disciplinary projects.
• Must meet U.S. export control requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, qualifying refugee or asylee, or be able to obtain a U.S. export license.

Nice to have

• Deep knowledge of quantum codes, protocols, and fault-tolerant compiling of quantum algorithms.
• Experience implementing and simulating fault-tolerant protocols.
• Publications in quantum error correction or related fields.
• Experience with quantum computing software frameworks and system-level optimization.
