TL;DR
Quantum Error Correction Software Engineer (Quantum Computing): Researching and implementing error-correcting codes, fault-tolerant computation, real-time decoding, circuit compilation, and quantum hardware data analysis with an accent on translating quantum information research into production software. Focus on designing fault-tolerant demonstrations, building real-time classical feedforward systems, simulating quantum computation, and estimating resources for fault-tolerant applications.

Location: Hybrid role based in Berkeley, California or Boulder, Colorado

Base salary: $155,000–$185,000 per year, plus annual bonus and company equity.

hirify.global develops quantum computers based on arrays of optically trapped neutral atoms for large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing.

What you will do

  • Research quantum error-correcting codes and fault-tolerant schemes.
  • Design and implement demonstrations of fault-tolerant quantum computation.
  • Develop real-time decoding and classical feedforward for fault-tolerant computation.
  • Compile quantum circuits, simulate fault-tolerant workloads, and estimate resources for quantum applications.
  • Analyze data from quantum hardware running error-corrected computations.
  • Set up and maintain databases supporting quantum computing research and development.

Requirements

  • PhD in physics, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with quantum error correction theory and software development for quantum computers in industry or academia.
  • Strong understanding of quantum computing and quantum information concepts.
  • Proficiency in Python and at least one compiled language such as Rust, C, or C++, plus familiarity with Git.
  • Ability to translate research results into functional production code and collaborate across software, physics, and engineering disciplines.
  • Willingness to learn atomic, molecular, and optical physics or quantum mechanics concepts as needed.
