Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Spacecraft Machining)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Candidates must satisfy U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements, including being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Salary: $145,000–$185,000 per year, with potential stock options.

What you will do

• Own manufacturing of spacecraft chassis, aluminum panels, tank skins, vehicle structures, and other large, thin aluminum components from product inception through volume production.
• Install advanced CNC machining work centers and develop processes for prototype, test, and flight hardware.
• Program and operate machining processes using CAM software such as NX and Mastercam.
• Collaborate with design and development teams to improve manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Resolve technical manufacturing issues and expand in-house production capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience with CNC machines, CAM packages, and design, test, manufacturing, or production environments.
• Experience with 5-axis mills or routers, plus manual and CNC mills or lathes.
• Ability to learn new CAM software quickly and manage large tool libraries.
• Demonstrated project ownership and effective collaboration in small teams.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of CNC and CAM experience, including spacecraft component machining and MAX-PAC.
• Experience with Heidenhain, Okuma OSP, Siemens, Fanuc, or similar machine-control software.
• Experience setting up machine shops, evaluating capital equipment, fabrication tools, CAD, GD&T, and workholding design.
• Python or SQL programming experience.
• Flexibility to travel as needed and work at a rapid pace with strong attention to detail.
