Manufacturing Engineer II/Senior - Machining (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's headquarters and working in a production environment.

Base pay: $115,000–$155,000 USD per year for California.

What you will do

• Develop machining processes for new products and revisions involving Rutherford and Archimedes rocket engines.
• Contribute to design reviews with expertise in design for manufacture, machining, productivity, and quality control.
• Select, procure, install, and maintain machine shop equipment, including calibration planning.
• Develop tooling and production equipment to improve quality, delivery, and cost performance.
• Lead continuous improvement and cost-reduction projects for the fabrication department.
• Collaborate with other machine shops and mentor less experienced engineers and machinists.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or an equivalent field; relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• Manufacturing Engineer II level: 2+ years of machine shop experience, or 6+ years in lieu of a degree.
• Senior level: 5+ years of machine shop experience, or 9+ years in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with CAM software and 3- and 5-axis CNC equipment.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and inspection methods.
• For US office roles, eligibility under ITAR requirements is required, including US citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the necessary authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with capacity modeling, process mapping, Lean/Six Sigma, or value stream mapping.
• 10+ years of machine shop experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD, tooling design, turbomachinery, combustion-device components, post-processing, additive manufacturing, or welding.
• NX CAM programming and operation of 5-axis CNC machines.
