What you will do
- Design mechanical systems that withstand vibration, shock, thermal, and environmental conditions according to MIL-STD-810.
- Perform structural, FEA, modal, vibration, and thermal simulations to assess durability and reliability.
- Integrate mechanical structures with electrical components such as wiring harnesses, sensors, and actuators.
- Lead structural integrity testing, validation, and analysis for military-grade systems.
- Create mechanical drawings, design specifications, simulation reports, and testing protocols.
- Support prototype development, manufacturing feasibility, design reviews, and risk reduction.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in mechanical design, including electromechanical integration.
- Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with structural, vibration, and thermal simulations using ANSYS or similar tools.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo.
- Strong understanding of MIL-STD-810 requirements for vibration, shock, temperature, and humidity testing.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing, Design for Reliability, and cross-functional work with electrical, software, and systems engineers.
Nice to have
- Experience with MIL-STD-810, MIL-S-901D naval shock testing, or MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC standards.
- Knowledge of EMC considerations in mechanical design.
- Experience with rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing.
- Familiarity with fluid dynamics, heat transfer, shock absorption, and damping systems.
