Sr. Director, Finance (Fintech)

Location: San Diego, California office; structured hybrid with a minimum of three days per week onsite. Candidates must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and meet the San Diego office requirement.

Salary: $158,400–$237,600 per year

What you will do

• Lead finance planning and support strategy execution through annual operating plans, forecasts, and actionable insights.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, variance analysis, performance dashboards, and KPI management.
• Build financial models for products, pricing strategies, partnerships, and strategic initiatives, including ROI and unit economics analysis.
• Strengthen financial controls, identify risks, and partner with controllership, audit, compliance, and risk teams.
• Provide scenario analysis and executive-level financial narratives to support business decisions.
• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team while partnering with FP&A, accounting, tax, payroll, product, operations, risk, and technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• 10–15 years of progressive finance experience, including team leadership.
• Strong expertise in FP&A, forecasting, business decision support, and advanced financial modeling.
• Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders, improving processes, strengthening financial discipline, and supporting risk management.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
• Ability to work from the San Diego, California office at least three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, lending, regulated financial services, or high-volume transaction businesses.
• Experience with controllership and audit related to revenue, settlements, or complex financial processes.
• Experience improving reporting through BI tools, KPI systems, and automation.
• MBA, CPA, or CMA.
