Staff Technical Recruiter (AI/ML)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; hybrid work required

What you will do

• Own full-cycle recruiting for AI/ML research and engineering roles, from sourcing and outreach through offer and close.
• Build expertise in technical roles and competitive talent markets to attract niche researchers and engineers.
• Design and run intern and new graduate hiring programs through university partnerships, research labs, and campus recruiting.
• Map and engage the global pool of AI/ML researchers and engineers while developing long-term candidate relationships.
• Represent Genesis at conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR and build relationships with faculty, PhD students, and postdocs.
• Track recruiting pipeline health and metrics in Ashby and continuously improve workflows and candidate experience.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience, including significant AI/ML or research recruiting.
• Demonstrated success sourcing and closing niche technical talent in competitive markets.
• Experience with university recruiting, early-career programs, and internship pipelines.
• Knowledge of the AI/ML research community, including conferences, institutions, labs, and publication venues.
• Data fluency and experience with modern applicant tracking systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and the ability to build trust with researchers and engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ashby.
• Biotech background is not required; curiosity and fast learning are valued.
