Staff Controls Software Engineer (PLC/SCADA): Developing, testing, and commissioning control system software for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities with an accent on PLC and DCS programming, SCADA/HMI applications, batch control, safety logic, and industrial data integration. Focus on owning control system architecture and software standards, integrating control systems with enterprise platforms, leading complex commissioning activities, and mentoring engineers.

Location: Orangeville, Utah, United States; onsite work. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

What you will do

  • Develop, configure, test, and commission PLC and DCS applications using Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, or equivalent platforms.
  • Build SCADA and HMI applications, tag databases, communication interfaces, redundancy architectures, and operator-focused displays.
  • Implement ISA-88 batch control, recipe management, equipment modules, material tracking, alarm management, and operational reporting.
  • Configure safety logic, plant historians, and ISA-95 integrations with MES, ERP, LIMS, databases, and REST APIs.
  • Define control system architecture, software standards, reusable libraries, cybersecurity controls, version control, and disaster recovery practices.
  • Lead FAT, SAT, commissioning, contractor oversight, technical reviews, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and junior engineer mentoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of controls software, PLC programming, or SCADA development experience in process industries, including ownership of complex projects through commissioning.
  • Hands-on experience with a major PLC platform and IEC 61131-3 programming languages, including reusable code libraries and standards.
  • Experience with SCADA development, ISA-101 or HPHMI design, ISA-88 batch control, ISA-18.2 alarm management, and plant historian systems.
  • Working knowledge of OPC-UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or Modbus, plus the ability to interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and I/O lists.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Nice to have

  • Ignition, Rockwell, Siemens TIA Portal, ISA CAP, or equivalent certifications.
  • Experience with OSIsoft PI/AVEVA PI, SQL, Python, REST APIs, Git, LIMS integration, or virtualized SCADA infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, NQA-1, IEC 62443, or secure industrial network architecture.
