Senior / Staff Controls Engineer (AMT)

Location: United States — Solon, Ohio; Hollister, California; or Chandler, Arizona. The role requires work at one of these sites and up to 50% travel between locations.

Salary: $125,260–$232,440 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

• Architect, program, and sustain PLC, robotic control, and HMI systems for scalable manufacturing automation.
• Design electrical control systems and data acquisition structures for real-time equipment and process visibility.
• Serve as the site subject matter expert for automation controls, lifecycle management, technical governance, and troubleshooting.
• Apply UL and other equipment safety standards across controls projects.
• Integrate controls with MES, OEE, business systems, and data platforms using standard communication protocols.
• Establish programming and documentation standards, mentor engineers and technicians, and contribute to the long-term automation roadmap.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in automation controls engineering, including PLC programming, robotic controls, and electrical control systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with structured text, ladder logic, Python, or similar industrial and open-source programming languages.
• Working knowledge of UL and other equipment safety standards.
• Experience integrating controls with MES, OEE, and data acquisition platforms using EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, or similar protocols.
• U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, protected-individual status, or applicable U.S. government export authorization may be required for ongoing employment.

Nice to have

• Experience in electronics, aerospace, defense, automotive, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience with electronics systems engineering.
