Staff Data Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Build and maintain production-scale ingestion and transformation systems using dbt, SQL, BigQuery, GCP, and Dagster.
• Improve the quality, freshness, and reliability of member identity, eligibility, claims, EHR, HIE, and FHIR data.
• Own reverse-ETL systems that supply operational data to care delivery applications.
• Support clinical performance evaluation and value-based contracts through HEDIS and CMS Stars measurement pipelines.
• Define and maintain a governed semantic and metrics layer with consistent, machine-readable metric definitions.
• Partner with AI, BI, clinical, product, and platform stakeholders to provide trustworthy data and self-serve analytics.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building trustworthy production systems.
• Hands-on production-scale experience with dbt and SQL, plus Dagster, Airflow, or an equivalent orchestration tool.
• Experience owning operational or reverse-ETL data systems used by production applications.
• Experience designing or maintaining a semantic or metrics layer.
• Understanding of how LLMs consume structured context and daily use of AI-assisted engineering and analytics tools.
• Ability to collaborate with BI, clinical, product, and platform stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Computer science degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in regulated environments such as HIPAA or SOC 2.
• Direct BigQuery experience.
• Exposure to healthcare and clinical data, including ADT, HEDIS, and CMS Stars.
• Experience building self-serve analytics for non-technical stakeholders.
