TL;DR
Data Engineer II (SQL/ETL): Building and maintaining ETL pipelines, data warehouses, analytics infrastructure, and dashboards for financial wellbeing and payroll data with an accent on scalable data architecture, testing, monitoring, and database performance. Focus on optimizing warehouse costs, designing automated data quality capabilities, and integrating AI to improve alerting and query performance.
Location: New York City, United States — hybrid
Salary: $120,000–$140,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do
- Build and maintain ETL and data pipelines supporting analytics and data products.
- Design and implement data testing, scaling, monitoring, and alerting capabilities.
- Maintain and optimize data warehouses and analytics infrastructure.
- Improve database performance while reducing warehouse costs and development time.
- Participate in code approvals and pull request reviews for analytics engineering.
- Produce and maintain reports, metrics, dashboards, and analytics for internal and external users.
Requirements
- 4+ years of SQL experience with expert SQL capability.
- Experience with dimensional models, data lakes, data lakehouses, data warehouses, and large-scale performant data models.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with MPP warehouses such as Snowflake or BigQuery and ETL tools such as Fivetran or Stitch.
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau or Looker.
- Strong presentation, communication, and ability to explain technical data concepts to finance and operations partners.
Nice to have
- Python, Go, or similar languages for data processing and automation.
- At least one year of dbt experience, including data quality checks and testing frameworks.
- Experience with financial or accounting data and ERP platforms such as NetSuite or Sage.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated releases, Airflow, or reverse ETL tools such as Hightouch or Census.
