Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 base salary per year plus bonus

What you will do

• Design, build, and own custom data pipelines from source systems into the data warehouse, including integrations with poorly documented APIs.
• Build and operate Airflow DAGs for scheduled and event-triggered workflows.
• Develop dbt models and a governed semantic layer for analysts, internal tools, and AI agents.
• Create reusable patterns for incremental synchronization, retries, replay, backfills, and event processing.
• Implement monitoring, data-quality checks, reconciliation, logging, alerting, CI/CD, and operational runbooks.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Growth, and Technology to turn ambiguous business needs into durable data products and resolve production incidents.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related engineering role.
• Production-quality Python and advanced SQL skills with a focus on maintainable, well-tested code.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating Airflow workflows and custom data pipelines.
• Strong dbt and dimensional modeling fundamentals, including facts, dimensions, incremental models, tests, documentation, and schema evolution.
• Deep experience with API ingestion, including authentication, pagination, rate limits, incremental synchronization, retries, and historical backfills.
• Fluent use of AI coding agents for implementation, testing, debugging, refactoring, and review, with accountability for architecture and correctness.

Nice to have

• Experience with BigQuery, GCP, and Cloud Composer.
• Experience in a high-growth DTC or subscription business.
• Broad, hands-on experience across the data stack.
