Principal RF Engineer (RF)

What you will do

• Define system architecture and detailed designs for high-end RF sensors and effectors.
• Design and develop RF jamming systems for countering unmanned aerial system threats.
• Create schematics and PCB designs in Altium and guide hardware implementation.
• Plan and execute modular- and system-level hardware validation, including high-speed digital and RF interface testing.
• Analyse interference, improve signal quality, range, and reliability, and lead hardware root-cause analysis and resolution.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and project teams to integrate RF technologies into portable, vehicle-mounted, and fixed-site systems.

Requirements

• Degree in Electronics Engineering or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 15 years of RF design experience within an engineering design team.
• Expertise in RF systems design, link budgets, cascaded noise and non-linearity analysis, and DSP blocks used in digital transceivers.
• Substantial experience designing RF transceivers, high-power and low-noise amplifiers, filters, diplexers, and high-speed ADCs and DACs.
• Significant experience with Altium schematic and PCB design, RF CAD tools, PCB layout, mechanical shielding, and RF board-level rework.
• Strong practical experience using VNAs, spectrum analysers, signal generators, and other benchtop test equipment.

Nice to have

• Antenna measurement, characterisation, and design experience.
• Experience with high-power RF amplifier linearisation, integrated antennas, software-defined radio, and multi-carrier combining.
• Experience designing test plans, manufacturing for production, communication protocols, and applicable radio standards.
• Technical team leadership and mentoring experience.
