TL;DR
UAS Field Technician - Drone Operations (Robotics): Deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and testing autonomous aerial and ground robotic systems at customer sites across Texas and the U.S. with an accent on electro-mechanical field service, drone operations, and aviation and workplace safety. Focus on installing and repairing industrial drone systems, conducting in-field tests, maintaining flight equipment, and supporting customer adoption in demanding outdoor environments.

Location: Must reside within 50 miles of the Midland, Texas operations hub; field work at customer sites throughout Texas and the U.S. The role involves daily drive-based travel, up to 25% flight-based travel, and work from the Midland hub when not at a customer site.

What you will do

  • Deploy, install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair aerial and ground robotic systems at client sites.
  • Plan and execute field activities independently while coordinating with operations, engineering, sales, marketing, customers, and external teams.
  • Maintain flight equipment, testing equipment, tools, and system readiness.
  • Conduct operations in accordance with FAA, local aviation, OSHA, and customer-specific safety protocols.
  • Document completed work, provide status updates, and identify product improvements through field testing.
  • Support testing and deployment of autonomous robotic systems for infrastructure and asset inspection.

Requirements

  • At least 1–2 years of technical experience operating drones or 2+ years of industrial technician experience, plus at least 2 years of technician experience in electrical, mechanical, assembly, or repair work.
  • FAA Part 107 certification preferred, or ability to pass the exam within the first 30 days; the company pays for the exam.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to operate a company-provided field vehicle.
  • PEC/SafeLand SAFESTART certification, H2S Clear, and a clean Motor Vehicle Record are required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicate effectively with customers and internal teams, and work flexible or non-routine hours, including overtime.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather, lift and carry 50–100 lbs, access equipment in confined or elevated areas, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

Nice to have

  • Thermographer certification.
  • Spanish language skills.
