Senior Quantum Field Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: Hybrid in Daejeon, South Korea

What you will do

• Lead customer-facing technical discussions, demonstrations, and discovery sessions across quantum computing, networking, security, sensing, and space applications.
• Translate customer business needs into technical projects and work with the Applications team to map quantum algorithms into application code.
• Develop and execute proof-of-concepts, guiding customers from early ideation through technical exploration and potential production workflows.
• Explain IonQ’s portfolio and quantum applications to customers across South Korea and the wider APAC market.
• Share customer and market insights with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Developer Relations, and Business Development.
• Support conferences, events, and activities that build awareness of quantum computing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a technical customer-facing role such as field engineering, solutions architecture, technical sales, customer engineering, or applied science.
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or another relevant STEM field.
• Strong interest in quantum computing and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to customers and stakeholders.
• Experience with Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Qiskit, Cirq, or other quantum computing SDKs, ideally combined with broader architecture skills.
• Strong customer communication, stakeholder management, technical curiosity, and the ability to work across commercial and technical teams.
• Additional depth through a Master’s or PhD, customer-side industry experience, proof-of-concept delivery, executive presence, or experience representing a business at client meetings and events.
