TL;DR

Location: Onsite in Boston, Massachusetts, United States; travel less than 10%

Base salary: $126,887–$166,127 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Design, upgrade, and expand optical testing infrastructure for classical and quantum integrated photonics devices at chip and wafer scale.
  • Characterize passive and active optical components using room-temperature and cryogenic setups.
  • Develop and document robust component-level testing procedures.
  • Automate instrument setup, data acquisition, and analysis for scalable characterization flows.
  • Collaborate with design, packaging, and systems teams to optimize testing features and build a library of test flows.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in optical spectroscopy or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in engineering, physics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with test instrumentation and room-temperature optical testing methods.
  • Strong data processing, visualization, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with free-space optics, imaging systems, laser sources, and fiber components.
  • Programming experience in a general-purpose language such as Python or MATLAB for test automation; onsite work in Boston is required, and U.S. person status or applicable export-control authorization may be required.

Nice to have

  • Five or more years of design and characterization experience with classical integrated photonics devices.
  • Hands-on experience with cryogenic optical test setups.
  • Hands-on experience characterizing integrated photonics devices.
