IT Security Engineer

Location: On-site in Arlington, Virginia, United States; limited to U.S. citizens

Salary: $116,000–$159,000 base salary annually; estimated total compensation of $135,000–$195,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network security architecture, including firewalls, intrusion detection, VPNs, and DMZs.
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across the organization.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests, then remediate identified gaps.
• Monitor networks and systems with SIEM tools, investigate incidents, and prepare root-cause and response reports.
• Manage IAM, access controls, MFA, DLP, encryption, endpoint hardening, patch management, and system updates.
• Support security awareness training and compliance with CMMC, SOC 2, GDPR, PCI-DSS, and applicable industry standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of professional IT security experience with expertise in at least two of network security, systems security, or cybersecurity.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, proxies, and network segmentation.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM and IDS/IPS tools such as Splunk, ELK Stack, Snort, or Suricata.
• Experience with endpoint protection, vulnerability management, cloud security across AWS, Azure, or GCP, and containerized environments using Docker or Kubernetes.
• U.S. citizenship is required; some positions may require eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Nice to have

• Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CCNA Security, or Security+.
• Security automation and Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or Ansible.
• Application security testing, secure development practices, incident response, forensics, compliance frameworks, and audit experience.
