TL;DR
Senior Applications Engineer (Industrial Robotics): Designing, building, and commissioning robotic automation solutions for customer production lines with an accent on mechanical, electrical, and software integration. Focus on PLC programming, Python scripting, fixtures, wiring, safety systems, field troubleshooting, and customer training.

Location: On-site in Glen Cove, New York, United States; requires up to 30% domestic travel, Monday through Friday

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

  • Work with sales teams and customers to understand automation goals, production constraints, and integration requirements.
  • Design and build proof-of-concept solutions around industrial robot hardware.
  • Install, program, wire, integrate, test, and commission robotic cells at customer sites.
  • Manage integration across mechanical setup, fixtures, I/O, PLC handshakes, safety systems, software configuration, and sign-off.
  • Train customer operators and technicians, provide post-installation support, and run demonstrations at trade shows.
  • Share integration feedback with hardware and software engineering teams and assist with testing new platform features and integrations.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with industrial automation fundamentals.
  • Comfort working across mechanical systems, electrical systems, and software.
  • Experience with PLC programming, ladder logic, pneumatics, DC power systems, robot programming, and Python scripting.
  • Proficiency with CAD; SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Customer-facing experience and the ability to explain technical integrations to engineering and operations stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Glen Cove, New York, and travel domestically up to 30%. A bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience, is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with collaborative robots such as UR, Fanuc, KUKA, or ABB.
  • Experience with machine tending, palletizing, welding, or assembly automation.
  • Familiarity with vision systems, force/torque sensing, or custom end-of-arm tooling.
  • Manufacturing or production environment experience.
