Automation Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $112,500–$157,500 USD annually, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Automate manufacturing assembly and test processes to increase throughput, improve quality, and reduce operational costs.
• Develop solutions ranging from production fixtures to advanced automated systems.
• Design and deploy automated assembly systems, test stations, fixtures, and process-control solutions.
• Integrate PLCs, sensors, machine vision, robotics, pneumatics, motion control, and software for manufacturing applications.
• Support new product introduction builds and transition automation from prototype to scalable production.
• Identify bottlenecks, perform ROI analysis, and deliver improvements in yield, quality, labor efficiency, and manufacturing capacity.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying manufacturing automation equipment in high-volume production.
• Strong mechanical design skills, CAD proficiency using SolidWorks or equivalent, and experience creating manufacturable automation solutions.
• Experience with industrial controls, hardware-software integration, data collection, and process monitoring.
• Programming proficiency in Python or C# for automation, controls, or manufacturing test applications.
• Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, statistical process control, DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, Cp/Cpk, and manufacturing KPIs.
• Ability to collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, Design, Quality, and Software Engineering teams in a fast-paced product environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with drone, aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, or other high-reliability electromechanical products.
• Experience with machine vision inspection, robotic integration, and advanced motion-control platforms.
• Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume NPI builds and scaling processes to high-volume production.
