Senior Automation Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Salary: $149,500–$209,000 USD annually, plus equity grants as part of total compensation.

What you will do

• Automate assembly and test processes to increase throughput, improve quality, and reduce operational costs.
• Develop manufacturing automation solutions ranging from fixtures to advanced automated systems.
• Design and deploy automated assembly systems, test stations, fixtures, and process-control solutions.
• Integrate PLCs, sensors, machine vision, robotics, pneumatics, motion control, and software for manufacturing and testing.
• Support NPI builds and transition prototype automation solutions into scalable production.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, Design, Quality, and Software Engineering teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying manufacturing automation equipment in high-volume production.
• Strong mechanical design skills with SolidWorks or an equivalent CAD tool.
• Experience with industrial controls, automated manufacturing and test applications, data collection, and process monitoring.
• Programming proficiency in Python or C#.
• Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, SPC, DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, Cp/Cpk, and manufacturing KPIs.
• Ability to analyze bottlenecks and ROI and deliver improvements in throughput, yield, quality, and labor efficiency.

Nice to have

• Experience with drone, aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, or other high-reliability electromechanical products.
• Experience with machine vision inspection, robotic integration, and advanced motion control platforms.
• Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume NPI builds and scaling processes to high-volume production.
