Senior Backend Software Engineer IV (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States only; employees must reside in or be able to work from a state where Vida is registered. International work is prohibited.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and technical strategy for backend systems, microservices, and scalable member-facing REST APIs.
• Build and optimize Python and Django services with PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and dbt-based data access patterns.
• Provision and manage GCP infrastructure with Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Develop asynchronous, event-driven workflows using tools such as Celery and Pub/Sub.
• Define SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs and improve monitoring, alerting, logging, and distributed tracing.
• Lead root-cause analysis, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Product, Design, Data Engineering, AI, and React Native teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of professional engineering experience.
• Senior-level expertise in Python, Django, system design, and distributed backend services.
• Strong hands-on experience with GCP and Terraform infrastructure as code.
• Experience with BigQuery, dbt, advanced SQL, and PostgreSQL database architecture.
• Deep knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, observability, profiling, and production performance tuning.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-powered development tools or integrating AI/LLM models into user-facing features.
• Healthcare or regulated-environment experience, including HIPAA or SOC 2.
• Experience with Celery, Redis, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub, and CI/CD pipelines.
